We are pleased to share with you that the Department of Humanities and Creative Writing has achieved excellent results in the Research Assessment Exercise (RAE) 2020 recently announced by the University Grants Committee last Monday (24 May 2021).
It is encouraging that our Department has tied for first place with HKU in the Unit of Assessment (UoA) 35 — area studies, cultural studies, and other arts/humanities. We have submitted both scholarly and creative research outputs to this UoA, sharing the best performance (73%) with HKU among all institutions in the proportions of “internationally excellent” (3 stars) and “world leading” (4 stars) research projects. Our Environment Statement (i.e. research strategy, people, infrastructure, income, collaboration, esteem) has been rated “world leading” 4 stars, while our Impact Case was also of high quality, scoring “internationally excellent” 3 stars.
We would like to congratulate our colleagues on the success in this exercise. The dedication that each has shown to our team and all the accomplishments are very highly valued.
