Ka Tsui (Andrew)
- Research Postgraduate Student
Andrew Ka Tsui is now a Year 4 PhD candidate at the University. His transdisciplinary action research centers on critically rethinking urban food systems resilience pathways and investigating food systems vulnerabilities and equitable transformation among urban communities that are often masked by through-put resilience paradigm skewing towards market driven affordability, aggregate tonnage availability and supply chain accessibility discourses.
Andrew co-founded a social enterprise Rooftop Republic (https://rooftoprepublic.com/pages/about-us) since 2015 and a charity organisation Farm The City Foundation (https://www.farmthecity.hk/about) since 2018. He led a purpose-driven team to harness cross-sector collaborations and co-created about 100 rooftops on skyscrapers and commercial buildings into thriving community gardens. His team operates 15 of these urban relational spaces to engage city dwellers in citizen food literacy empowerment.
Recent publication: Machine Learning for Resilient Cities: Mapping of Food Accessibility and Shock Vulnerability in Metropolis Hong Kong presented at the 11th World Sustainability Forum (WSF11), Barcelona, Spain, 2–3 October 2025
