Ms. Betsy Kwong

Betsy Kwong is a PhD student at the Department of Humanities and Creative Writing, Hong Kong Baptist University. Her research interests include ecofeminism, cultural studies, comparative literature, genre fiction, children and young adult media, and multispecies studies. Her article on the analysis of “Nature-Other” entities in relation to political praxis intersects East Asian ecological philosophy with posthuman feminism in science fiction was published in Critical Asia Archive. Her article on gender violence and environmental injustice in “New Fairy Tales” for young adults will be published in the special issue of International Journal of Young Adult Literature in 2024. Her current project explores representations of girls as monstrous in contemporary young adult narratives, attributing the reimagination of female identities to the continuous development of the environmental humanities.
