Talk Description:
How do U.S. political parties nominate presidential candidates? What is the difference between a primary and a caucus? What happens at a nominating convention? A representative of the U.S. Consulate General in Hong Kong will come answer these questions, and more, in a talk about U.S. Primary Elections. As campaign season in the United States heats up ahead of November 5, 2024 elections, come find out more about how the process works.
Speaker Bio:
Andrew Riplinger is currently a Consul at the U.S. Consulate General in Hong Kong. He has also served with the U.S. State Department in Pakistan, Australia, and Vietnam. Prior to joining the State Department, Andrew participated in a Fulbright public policy fellowship in Samoa and worked on HIV/AIDS prevention programs in Kenya. He is from Chicago, Illinois and holds a graduate degree in international studies and a bachelor’s degree in psychology and political science from DePaul University.
